Week 24 - Teaching in 3 Languages!
Hey all! So this week has been super crazy! My friend Hermana Rueda finished her mission and leaves tomorrow for her house.. Tomorrow the new missionaries come to the mission office and... GUESS WHAT!!! IM TRAINING!!!!!!!!!!!! How crazy is that? I feel like the blind leading the blind.. But I know that God can do all things, and that with his help, I can teach someone how to be a missionary...
But other than that, I’m staying here in Parral YAY! This Saturday we are going to have the baptism of Chelo (haitian) and he is super excited for his day to finally get here!
Have you all seen pictures of the temple in Concepcion yet? If not, look them up! It’s so pretty! I can’t wait for the open house and then the dedication!
Can I just say how hard it is speaking 3 languages? I’m getting better with my Spanish. My English is worse than before, but sometimes I teach in English also, and sometimes we have people who don’t understand English or Spanish so we speak Creole... Its confusing switching back and forth in my mind! For example.
English=Commandment
Español=Mandamiento
Creol=Komaman (comaman?)
And sometimes when I’m teaching in Spanish and talking about the commandments of God, I keep stuttering and saying Komaman and such... but I know that with time things should be more clear in my mind...
But I’m loving the mission, I’ve never felt The Spirit so strong! I can’t wait to see what life has in store for me this week!
We have cambios tomorrow and I’m going to train!!!!!!! Cambios are When there are changes in missionaries... I don’t know what that’s called in English.. Transfers maybe?
Grace Hanks is going to the Philippines??? How crazy, It seems like yesterday that she was dancing...
The package you sent should get here in 2 or 3 weeks, hopefully less! But I’ll let you know when it’s here!
How is Grandpa Kunz doing? Im praying for him! And how is Aunt Michelle doing?
Way to go for Caleb for finishing Driver’s Ed! How do you feel about him driving, Mom?
Whoa, you let Marshall drive with you on the freeway??? You never let the kids do that! He must be really good!
Haha, learning these languages is really it’s all the gift of tongues that God’s given me as a missionary! I think it’s so much harder to learn a language when you don’t have to know it.. like Spanish when people around you speak English!
I hope I can teach my kids (when I have them) the languages I am learning! French and Creole are a little different.. but I’m sure they have things similar also! [Note from Suzanne - The creole language is based largely on 18th century French with influences from Portuguese, Spanish, English, Taíno, and West African languages.]
I’ve got to go, love you! Have marshall share his dances so that I can see them next week!
Love you!!!!!!!!!!!
Love you all!
Hermana Williams
