2nd week at the Mexico Mission Training Center
Hola from Mexico!!! It feels like its been forever since I've had a P day! So much has happened lately that I don't know where to start...
My district (5 elders and 6 hermanas) sang in Devotional on Tuesday and that was so good! I sang the Alto part with one of the other girls, so that was new for me!
I love helping the newbies, you can always tell who the new ones are because they have a super confused look on their face all the time...
My Zone leader looks EXACTLY like Mr. Incredible! Its actually kind of hilarious! He leaves for Chile (I forget where in Chile) on Sunday night so I'll be getting a new zone leader soon.
Spanish is still really hard for me, but I'm learning that its better to speak solo español and mess up and be corrected then to just keep quiet unless you know for sure what to say.
I've asked myself a lot why I was called to speak Spanish on my mission, because I feel so confident in teaching in English, but I know that I am called to speak Spanish and that I am not able to do it. But God and I can do it, so maybe I was called to develop my relationship with God better through it!
I love my Miestras tho, they are both so amazing! Learning and memorizing scriptures in Spanish is so incredibly easy for me, and I can hear a hymn a couple times and know almost all of the words. But words and phrases are incredibly hard for me. So Elder Franz has been helping me put a sign or an action to the words so that I can actually remember them. Everyone here is so patient with me and with each other, it really is so amazing! I can honestly say that I love everyone here!
I have 2 new investigators, M____ and V____. M______ is incredibly stubborn and it was really hard to feel love for her, but its the 3rd lesson with her and I love her now so much! She just had some really bad experiences that she blamed herself for, and now that shes taken down her barrier, I am so glad I get to teach her! V____ we still haven't been able to get through to... but It will get there! Hopefully this next lesson tomorrow!
I was asked to speak on Sunday and that was really nerve-racking, but it actually went really well!
My English spelling has gotten horrible! I was writing in my journal the other night and I wrote a word and then just sat there staring at it for a few minutes cause it just looked wrong! But I think thats a good thing cause it means the Spanish is getting through my thick head!
Also, my hair is loving the weather here! I get out of the shower and scrunch it a little, and its almost curly! More of a tighter wave, but its amazing!
I've come to realize that God is so powerful. My roommate compañera had a really scary experience the other night (Hermana S______) and everyone else in the room was asleep, and it was literally so bad that she couldn't move. But the power of prayer is so amazing! And also the power of priesthood blessings. I can not stress how much it means to me that everyone around me is ALWAYS worthy to give one. I cry (not really) every time I think about it!
I'm on for a little longer and I'll try to think of more that happened, love you all!
These are quotes from my mission president and his wife, durring a devotional earlier and I am absolutely in love with them. I was literally glued to my seat when they first said it! Hope this is a cool light bulb moment in your life!
“For nearly six thousand years, God has held you in reserve
to make your appearance in the final days before the Second Coming of the Lord.
Every previous gospel dispensation has drifted into apostasy, but ours will
not. . . . God has saved for the final inning some of his strongest children,
who will help bear off the Kingdom triumphantly.. . . Make no mistake about it—you
are a marked generation. There has never been more expected of the faithful in
such a short period of time as there is of us.
Each day we personally make many decisions that show where
our support will go. The final outcome is certain—the forces of righteousness
will finally win. What remains to be seen is where each of us personally, now
and in the future, will stand in this fight—and how tall we will stand. (Ezra
Taft Benson, In His Steps, BYU Devotional Address)
"Now, whatever your concerns, whatever your
challenges, I wish to assure you that there is a place for you in this, the
Lord’s Church. Our Father in Heaven cherishes His children and
wants each of us to return home to Him. To women, I say: whatever your calling,
whatever your circumstances, we need your impressions, your insights, and your
inspiration. We need your strength!
"To you who are young, please know that you were born
for this time. You are a chosen generation, fore-determined by God to do a
remarkable work—to help prepare the people of this world for the Second Coming
of the Lord. We need your strength and faith.
(President Russell M. Nelson - January 18,2018)
Many people refer to you as Millennials. I’ll
admit that when researchers refer to you by that word and describe what their
studies reveal about you—your likes and dislikes, your feelings and
inclinations, your strengths and weaknesses—I’m
uncomfortable. There is something about the way they use the term Millennial
that bothers me. And frankly, I am less interested in what the experts have to
say about you than what the Lord has told me about you.
When I pray about you and ask the Lord how He feels about
you, I feel something far different from what the researchers say. Spiritual
impressions I’ve received about you lead me to believe that the term
Millennial may actually be perfect for you. But for a much different reason
than the experts may ever understand.
A True Millennial is one who was taught and did teach the
gospel of Jesus Christ pre-mortally and who made covenants with our Heavenly
Father there about courageous things—even morally courageous things—that
you would do while here on earth.
A True Millennial is a man or woman whom God trusted enough
to send to earth during the most compelling dispensation in the history of this
world. A True Millennial is a man or woman who lives now to help prepare the
people of this world for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ and His millennial
reign. Make no mistake about it—you were born to be a True Millennial. (President Russell M. Nelson - January
2016)
I need to go and work out a little and then sew a skirt before dinner. I'm fixing a slit in one skirt and then one of my others is too long and it bothers me so I'm making it more mid calf length and using the material I cut off to make it into more of an overall skirt (But not a jean material) to add some cuteness! I wish I learned to sew better before coming, but Ill be a pro before I come home!
Talk to you all later! Love you so much!!! Talk to you next week on Wednesday!!!
Dios nos ama
Hermana Williams
