3rd Week - You Can't Not Feel the Spirit

Hola from Mexico!!! So my favorite quote this week is "Anything done with love is done well!" M___ was such a hard investigator and V______ is still stubborn, but I love them so much! And A____ is so cute! I can’t wait until they agree to get baptized!

So like my heading said.. this week I got called Santa Clause by one of the elders in my district (Elder J____) because apparently he doesn’t think Nutella should go on toast, but I do! So he basically called me fat, but thats okay cause if I was really fat he wouldn’t call me that so that is okay!

During our devotional yesterday we were talking about becoming like Christ and remembering who we are and so they showed a clip from the Lion King and I about cried! I didn’t think Disney could bring the spirit, but with that context, it was so powerful!

MY LIFE IS SO AMAZING!!! For lunch the other day we had FRIES AND HAMBURGER!!! I ate until I felt fat! But it was so worth it! It was literally the best (not really) thing that happened to me that day! It was soooo good!

So the temple was so amazing! It is so beautiful and unique! I have a few pictures that Ill send, but it was gorgeous! And the experience inside was so cool!

So many people have been an angel in my life this week! With speaking solo español and everything, it was so hard! But everyone was so good to me! I was looking through my journal the other day and found this quote "Angel means heavenly messenger. NOT heavenly being. Anyone can be an angel if they are spiritually close to God!"

That is so true! Everyone around me is an angel, especially mi compañera Hermana Christensen. I try so hard and then fail and they are always encouraging me! She helps me stay on top of homework and on top of Spanish and she is just an angel in my life!

The food is amazing! I love the rice and beans, the fruit is soo yummy! They have some AMAZING chicken! And corn tortillas are officially my favorite kind now! like the little small ones! MMM.. Yummy! Buuutttttt... My group is the last to eat and so we usually only get 10 minutes out of our allotted time and then they want to take our trays so that the workers can leave.. And there isn’t a whole lot of food left for us.. But thats okay, I usually eat pretty good!

I’ve taught one real investigator, and a less active member, but the rest have been miestras!

Giving a talk on Sunday was really nerve wracking, but it was good experience!

When it comes to singing.  It’s so much easier to just sing soprano and then mouth the high notes, but when I can get a whole song in alto, it’s such a good feeling!

I’m almost through one journal, and then I have one more. My notebook is almost filled, but I can get one at the little store here with part of my weekly money, so that’s not a problem. I wish I had brought more, but it won’t be too hard to just get some, unless you feel like sending it to me!

And when you send packages, make sure they have pictures of Santa Maria (Mary the mother of Jesus) on them cause the people there are really suspicious of her and won’t touch anything that has her around it!  So pictures of Christ would probably work, but I’ve heard she’s better (in this case).

Have you been able to send my glasses back?

A miestra is a teacher here! Both of my miestras are so amazing and such good teachers! But when they are in the investigator mode, they are in the investigator mode!

It honestly is second in feeling only to the temple. It’s hard NOT to feel The Spirit here!

I’ve actually used the hangers I brought, but yeah, they had some I could buy too!

At the temple we all used the headphones so that we could understand what was being said and so that was cool!  The video was one I hadn’t ever seen before so that was amazing! The drive over was close to an hour and was soo thrillifying! It’s insane how close together and narrow everything is, so many times I thought we were going to crash! But we have an amazing driver!

If letters are long I think it would be easier to mail them cause I don’t usually have time to read them all, but either way (mail or email) is good, I’m sure I’ll read them eventually!

I’m in here for 6 weeks and yesterday I just started my 4th week.. Crazy!

My Spanish is definitely better then when I got here! I can understand everything that people say, responding is just harder ‘cause my brain hasn’t made the transition yet, but I talked solo español yesterday so that was a really cool experience! And I taught a lesson to a Latina, with a Latina, so that was good! Stressful, but good!

I miss massages, when I get stressed my left shoulder gets super tight and that gives me a headache, but I’ve been learning that water is the cure to everything and if peppermint won’t take my headache away, water usually will!

Also, there are so many oils that I thought I had brought that I didn’t! Like Lemon, Vetiver and things like that! But I’ve been making due. Did you know that Lime will cure hiccups? I knew that Lemon would, but lime works too! Also, my hair (since I dyed it right before the end of the semester) has grown an inch and a half! I haven’t put heat on it in over a month, and I’ve put lavender and peppermint in my shampoo and conditioner and my hair has never been healthier! Most everyone loves the diffuser in my apartment and so that’s been fun. They call me the witch doctor cause I always carry oils with me.. But I love them!

Also, I might be using my card next week, not sure, but when we go to the temple again they have the cutest scripture cases and things like that and I want a cute souvenir so I might get one!  But they aren’t expensive, so I should be totally good!
