Week 25 - Focusing On Others Makes Me Happy


Week 25
Hey all, yesterday was a holiday so I’m writing today! I’ll send out the group email in a sec, but love you!


That’s so exciting that Marshall should be putting on his mission call soon!  I can’t wait for him to get his call!!! Filling everything out for a mission is a long process, it’s hard when things like interviews get pushed back.  I’m praying that this Sunday he can have his final interview!

I love training!  Some missionaries don’t like being out at night because it’s dark here at 6 or 6:30 and then there isn’t anyone in the streets and that can scare some missionaries.  But we need to work until 9:30. Praying always helps! We have also started to sing hymns when we are walking so hopefully that will help too.

Right now I’m in Parral in the Zone of Linares, about 2 and a half hours from Concepcion.

My hardships right now aren’t that hard.. its cold (like always) and that means that the members sometimes don’t want to leave to knock doors and such, but other that that, just helping my new compie!

Thank you thank you thank you for sending my package! It probably has gotten to the office of the mission, but because im almost 3 hours away, we only receive letters and packages 1 or 2 times a month...

the scriptures
...the list can go on and on! But I think the biggest difference in my attitude from before to now is that I’m focusing more on others and their needs and not my own!

Okay! Make sure to share the recipes with me too! I want to try recreating them!  Thanks! But if not, don’t worry! If you want to include easy recipes of normal food too, you can! ;D

WOOHOO!!! Way to go dad for applying for your law license so you can work in Idaho as well!!! That's super awesome!

Oh yikes.. That’s hard that Hunter’s car broke down.  Broken cars are never fun :( I’m praying that everything works out!

This area doesn’t have any hills!!! YAY!! I live in the Poblacion Don Guiermo in Calle 1 or Pasaje 1 I forget...

So My companion is called Hermana Peña, she is from Ecuador, she has 1 sister and then her parents. Her parents are converts.  She is funny and cute! She is really diligent in being exactly obedient and is very good with teaching the gospel! She is trying to learn more English (she already knows a little) And so that’s super fun because I don’t talk in English very much!  We are learning Creole together! I’m not sure yet but I think she’s a T4/T2... but I’m not positive...

But let me tell you a little bit about Chile and Mexico.  I LOVE IT! When I was in Mexico I thought I was in a different world!  The houses are bright colors and the people talk fast! It’s been so amazing seeing and living a different culture!  I have had so much fun here in Chile! I’ve laughed, I’ve cried, I’ve been laughing more than crying, dont worry ;) But the people here in Chile are like my family away from home. They are so loving and fun!  And they are always trying to make sure our needs are met! The food here in Chile is amazing! (exect for the chicken) And they have chocolate that is soooooo yummy!

Marshall, thanks for sending the videos of you dancing.  I can see them! Thank you!!! I love them!!! I’m gonna watch them in a sec... How are you???????

Week of April 9, 2018 Hola hola!  Today marks 3 months in the misión!!!  I’m on! Here are some of my highlights so far.  Getting to know the people in both Mexico and Chile, watching conference in Spanish, and visiting the temple! Being able to experience the country of Chile.  Becoming fluent in Spanish. Strengthening my testimony. Impacted other people for the good! I’ve also been able to Mexico Temple and the Concepción Temple (the outside).  Missionaries in the misión Concepción don’t get to visit the Santiago temple... are you on the Facebook page for my misión? I sang a duet (kind of a duet) for a practice and there might be a video.. if so, don’t laugh, I was super nervous!!! I feel like I understood most all of General Conference (90 percent!) when we watched it in Spanish.  But I want to read it in English so that I can actually study the words.. Haha, it’s much much easier understanding Spanish then it is speaking Spanish......

Week 8 - Elder Bragg, Speaking Spanish and Hard Work

Week 8 March 5, 2018 Wow, the time here has flown! I only have 4 weeks left in this transfer! Crazy!!! The days feel like weeks and the weeks feel like days.. This week I got called on during a zone conference (with Elder Bragg of the 70) and I actually understood the question and answered (i think) decently! The conference with him was super amazing though, I really love hearing and learning more about what I should be studying right now! I think I'm trying to balance 6 or 7 different topics of study, along with language! Its crazy but so good! My brain has never hurt this much but never felt so good at the same time! I have a sick watch line (sorry, no pictures) and my freckles are coming out! Makes me so happy!!! I love the sun, and am trying to enjoy it before it gets super cold! There are SOO many dogs here! Usually they are behind gates and or are sleeping, but at times there are a lot or really big ones around us, and one starts barking, and then the othe...

Week 24 - Teaching in 3 Languages!

Hey all! So this week has been super crazy! My friend Hermana Rueda finished her mission and leaves tomorrow for her house.. Tomorrow the new missionaries come to the mission office and... GUESS WHAT!!! IM TRAINING!!!!!!!!!!!! How crazy is that? I feel like the blind leading the blind.. But I know that God can do all things, and that with his help, I can teach someone how to be a missionary... But other than that, I’m staying here in Parral YAY! This Saturday we are going to have the baptism of Chelo (haitian) and he is super excited for his day to finally get here! Have you all seen pictures of the temple in Concepcion yet?  If not, look them up! It’s so pretty! I can’t wait for the open house and then the dedication! Can I just say how hard it is speaking 3 languages?  I’m getting better with my Spanish.
